Aine Ni Leime joined the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology in April, 2006 where she is employed as a researcher. She is also responsible for teaching and course co-ordination. Her research interests include research methodology, the sociology and economics of the labour market, social policy in relation to gender and ageing, rural development, social gerontology and critical theory.
She holds a BA in Economics, Sociology and Women’s Studies (1996), and an MA in Economics (2000) both from NUI, Galway. She is currently engaged in a PhD in Sociology in the University of Dublin, Trinity College – a qualitative study of decision-making among older Irish workers. She has worked on several research projects in NUI, Galway including EU-funded international projects such as Integrated Development in Agricultural and Rural Areas (IDARA) and national projects including a study of carers in Ireland. She has taught several courses at all levels from Diploma to MA. Her teaching has been in the areas of Economics, Sociology, Women’s Studies and Rural Development
