Stephen McNena received his Bachelor of Commerce and M. Econ. Sc. degrees from NUI Galway. He is currently the Course Co-ordinator of the B.A. in Economic and Social Studies.
As well as standard micro- and macreconomics modules, he teaches courses on public and social policy and quantitative methods. He was part of a multi-disciplinary team that developed a socio-economic profile of Co. Sligo. His main research interest is the economics of the welfare state, and he is updating a report on the Irish welfare state. He has also contributed to news reports on RTE radio.
